‘Flat Cap Throwing’ at Tockwith Show

The traditional Yorkshire event, influenced by the anthem ‘Ilkley Moor Baht’ being about a man who lost his hat on Ilkley Moor, has been a regular event at the Tockwith Show for many years since its humble beginnings. The long awaited return of the show was a major success on the day generally and the Lions had a ‘brilliant’ day with their cap throwing and ‘Cuddly Lion’ stalls.
Three awards were given, men's trophy to Kevin Williamson (see photo), ladies salver to Julia and Under 16's rosette to James. They all will be returning next year to compete again for the awards and to achieve longer distances than Men's - 23.50m; Ladies - 20.52m; Under 16's - 21.30m.
The ‘Cuddly Lion’ stall returns at the Lions’ ‘Dickensian Christmas Market & Craft Fair’ in the Wetherby Market Place and Town Hall on 11th December 2022 – lots more traditional activities.
