Wetherby Duck Race
RAISING MONEY FOR LOCAL CHARITIES
The 2021 event has been CANCELLED due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The 2022 event date will be announced later.
A great day was had on Sunday 14th July 2019
The Wetherby Duck Race was again organised as a community event by Wetherby District Lions Club and took place on a blisteringly hot Sunday on 14th July 2019. For a short time, the River Wharfe turned yellow – not because of the weather but because up to 1,000 ducks took to the water for their annual race.
The three monetary prizes of £200, £100 and £50 was won by Alex Walker (Duck 255),
Mr C W Bayston (Duck 065) and Roy Smith (Duck 413) respectively. An additional fourth prize of a voucher from 'Discount Feeds' of Wetherby, was won by James McArthur (Duck 413).
All the proceeds from the event will go to local Wetherby charities and organisations.
Once again our celebrities, the Town Mayor Galan Moss and Alan Drinkall, Townsperson of the Year, started the ducks a swimming. We all had a 'quacking' good time !
